Product Details

The Sunlight MiniOmni™ bone sonometer provides an exceptionally affordable, professional solution for early assessment of osteoporosis. It enables reliable, accurate, non-invasive and safe monitoring of bone density — with exceptional cost-effectiveness.

The MiniOmni is a handheld quantitative ultrasound device that weighs less than 2 pounds and plugs into a Windows PC or laptop over USB. It measures bone using BeamMed's proprietary Sunlight Omnipath™ technology, a unique axial transmission method based on the speed of ultrasonic waves propagating along the bone. Axially transmitted speed of sound, or SOS, indicates overall bone strength by reflecting properties such as mineral density, elasticity, cortical thickness and microstructure. There is no radiation, no patient undressing and no disposables — the patient stays seated with their shoes on, and the operator works at desk height without bending.

Results are reported in meters per second alongside WHO-compliant T-score and Z-score values, drawn from BeamMed's built-in reference database, and presented as an easy-to-understand graphical report within minutes. That makes the MiniOmni a practical fit for a primary care office, a clinic, a mobile or in-home visit, or an annual-checkup program — including closing osteoporosis-management gaps for HEDIS reporting.

Available configurations

Both kits are the same MiniOmni main unit and the same Omnipath measurement technology. What separates them is the patient population they are built to serve, the number of measurement sites, and how many computers you can license.

  • Basic Express Kit — for the general adult population of average weight. Single-site measurement software with the CM probe, which measures at the distal one-third radius (forearm). Includes five licenses, so the software can be registered on five computers or installations. Choose this if your patients are adults of average weight.
  • Professional Kit — for both adults of average weight and patients who are clinically obese or of higher BMI. Adds the multi-site measurement software upgrade and a second probe, the CS probe, which measures at the third phalanx (finger) — a site that stays accessible when soft tissue makes the forearm harder to measure. Includes eight licenses. Choose this if you see a mixed adult population, or any meaningful number of higher-BMI patients.

Both kits include 1-Cycle Express, BeamMed's faster scanning software and operating mode. A scan is a single one-minute cycle rather than the three to five cycles the original software prompted for, which saves roughly six to seven minutes per patient. It also shortens training, since there is one cycle to teach rather than a sequence, and it reduces total probe wear to under a third of the original scan count. The routine system and probe quality check is likewise a single cycle.

A kit does not include the Windows computer, a chair or a desk. Call 800-675-1202 or email sales@morningsidemedical.com if you want help matching a kit to your patient population, adding licenses beyond those included, or upgrading a Basic Express Kit to Professional coverage later.
