The simpleABI-Q is a Doppler-Free Rapid PAD Screening PVR System used to rule PAD in or out and identify patients who need further evaluation, in one to two minutes. It uses pulse volume recording to deliver quick, repeatable vascular assessments, and it is built for speed, simplicity and staff efficiency — virtually any trained team member can run the test, with no Doppler experience required. Rather than diagnostic confirmation, this system focuses on rapid detection. In 1-2 minutes the system produces the ABI-Q report with a PVR waveform and ABI-Q values with guidance on if further evaluation is needed.
Best for
High-volume screening environments, diabetic foot clinics, and practices needing fast, staff-driven PAD assessments without Doppler expertise.
Screen first, confirm with Doppler
The simpleABI-Q is not a replacement for diagnostic ABI testing — it is the first step. Use it to screen broadly and quickly, then refer abnormal or borderline results for Doppler-based confirmation or purchase a simpleABI Automated Cuff-Link System, which performs the continuous-wave Doppler ankle brachial index recognized by the AHA and ACC as the gold standard for PAD diagnosis.
Why PVR-based screening?
Pulse volume recording evaluates blood flow by measuring volume changes in the limb rather than arterial pressure, so it works in patients with calcified arteries — common in diabetes — without needing a Doppler signal. Results are consistent and operator-independent, and test times are fast enough for high patient throughput. It is especially valuable in diabetic, podiatry and primary care settings.
When to choose a Cuff-Link system instead
Choose a simpleABI Automated Cuff-Link System rather than this system if you need to:
- Confirm a diagnosis rather than screen for one, with the gold-standard Doppler ankle brachial index.
- Measure toe brachial index with a PPG probe, for patients whose ankle vessels are calcified and an ankle pressure cannot be obtained.
- Localize the obstruction to a limb segment with three cuff or four cuff segmental studies, rather than only establishing that disease is present.
- Run Doppler exercise or treadmill stress studies, which this system does not perform.
- Automate cuff selection and inflation across several levels of the limb.
Software and reports
The software calculates indices automatically and stores each exam with a timestamp. Your practice logo and contact details print on the report, and physicians, operators, interpreters and ICD-10 codes sit on drop-down menus.
Reports save as PDF, TIFF, CSV, BMP or JPG, or print on any standard printer.
Seamless EMR integration — reports can be printed on any standard printer or saved as PDF/TIFF files for easy attachment to EMR patient records. Interested in DICOM connectivity? Call us at 800-675-1202 or email info@morningsidemedical.com for more information.
