President of Morningside Medical Equipment, Matt Berens and Sales Associate, Chloe Virden participated in last weekend's Alzheimer's Association - Walk to End Alzheimer's.

Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's® is the world's largest fundraiser for Alzheimer's care, support and research. From a business standpoint, Morningside Medical is a master distributor for Neurocognitive testing equipment that specifically uncovers physiology and symptomatology that relate to Dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
"It just makes sense for us as a company to associate ourselves with an institution like the Alzheimer's Association, which provides so much education and support for this disease," says Matt, "especially since we're in a position where we can facilitate the flow of both current and new information to physicians around the country."
It's more than that though. It's personal. After losing his grandmother to Alzheimer's, Matt has a passion behind advocating for technology that aids physicians in earlier diagnosis. With over 50 million people worldwide living with Alzheimer's or other forms of Dementia, and 1 in 3 seniors dying with that diagnosis, the problem is only growing.
"Having a family member that lived with this disease, and knowing the support and necessary care that was involved, definitely adds a perspective that I believe resonates with physicians. Unfortunately I'm not the exception. Most people have a family or friend with MCI/Dementia/Alzheimer's, and any improvement starts with a diagnosis, and then relies heavily on organizations like Alzheimer's Association to put out the most helpful and current support possible."
